ys16 < Ys17 Pornography > ys01 To quote the American Heritage Dictionary...
Lewd and lascivious feelings are but one manifestation of desire, and desire can be created from, or for, many things. Desire, in its turn, holds the possibility of seduction. There are many kinds of seduction, for we desire all manner of things, from sexual gratification to commodities. We even find desire for the less concrete, for images, ideas and even narrative. Such latent desire is tickled, and even released (particularly in our commodity culture) by various stimulae, most notably advertising. The catalyst of advertising increases what might be a vague longing to an incessant itch, acting on our desires much the same way as pornography, as described above, acts on our natural biological urges. This chapbook is a reflection on some of these issues. Questions we would like to raise... How does desire effect our perceptions? Our thoughts? The way we live our lives? Can we step back and find a different perspective? Can an object of desire become a source of escape from further desiring? yellow snow ...... bibliography ...... loRES |
