Ben Swire - Equilibrium EP (The Foundry/Hypnos - 2002)
17.5 minutes (in 4 tracks) of well-balanced electronic music is part of a Foundry EP series... in the Interim (5:00), softly wafting tonal billows are speckled with bassy thumps and scritchy accents, adding up to something both vague and distinct. More-stirring (though still relatively subdued) forces make a Departure into a rhythm-stirred mass of steamy, swirling soundcolors, backed by faraway rumbles.
Sonorous symphonics and glistening bells melt into an appealingly deep Knot which is tied by strings of sputtery percussive static. The final Score (3:50) is settled upon low, churning mists, sweet synthstreams and clattery rhythmics. All in all, some enticingly loose musical forms in an unfortunately small collection... nice stuff indeed!
