48th FOLKLORE FESTIVAL 21-25.8.2002
We had some time in the Czech Republic on either end of our festival appearance. Most of this was spent in Prague, though Susan and I also visited a friend of hers that lives near Cesky Tesin (I'm afraid I do not have the proper characters available to render this name properly... it is pronounced "chesky cheshin," approximately) in the furthest east portion of CR. Susan took the photo of the reactor stacks on our long cross country train trip... in fact we passed about a half dozen reactor sites! The other photos come from our time in Prague. The middle photo was taken at Bertramka, the house in which Mozart lived during many of his visits to Prague. The displays inside showed that many modern composers had visited this site/shrine and had even had their photos taken on the grounds, so I had to follow suit hoping that a little genius and inspiration might rub off on me! The last photo was taken by accident while I was loading the camera (but I liked the way it turned out, ragged edge and all), and shows the Opera house in the Old Town which hosted the premiere of Don Giovanni. The photos don't exactly represent the sum of our visit, of course, but I thought they might be a some interest in relation to my Foundry activities.
